TCC 3.0: Empowering the Champions of Humanity
Date: October 14, 2024
Venue: Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, Abuja
Theme: Empowering the Champions of Humanity: Enhancing Mental Resilience in Humanitarian Champions
Every year, The Conversation Conference brings together people passionate about mental health, especially in humanitarian work. Held to mark World Mental Health Day, this event is a space to connect, learn, and inspire action.
In 2024, we focused on those who often stand at the frontline of crises—the humanitarian champions. These are the doctors, volunteers, aid workers, and many others who dedicate themselves to helping vulnerable communities around the world. Our theme, Empowering the Champions of Humanity: Enhancing Mental Resilience, highlights the urgent need to support their mental well-being so they can continue their critical work with strength and care.
This year’s conference was made possible through the support and partnership of leading international NGOs, including Action Against Hunger and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Together, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the mental health of humanitarian workers everywhere.
Why World Mental Health Day Matters for Humanitarian Champions
World Mental Health Day is a global reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that we all have a role to play in supporting one another.
For humanitarian workers, the pressures are intense. Long hours, challenging environments, and emotional strain can take a heavy toll. Recognizing these challenges is the first step toward building stronger mental health support systems for those who give so much.
This day is a call to action: to break the silence around mental health, to offer resources and care, and to create environments where humanitarian champions feel safe, valued, and resilient.
